Remembering George Trombetta

George Trombetta March 4, 1944 – September 18, 2024
George Louis Trombetta of Bolivia passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024 at the age of 80. George was born in 1944 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of the late Louis and Inez Conte Trombetta.
He spent his early years in Kings Park, New York. George graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the State University of New York at Oswego. There he met his life’s partner, Patricia. They married in 1966 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Staten Island, New York. George spent more than thirty years as an educator, teaching middle school students at the Half Hollow Hills School District of Huntington, New York. He was an Industrial Arts teacher and also coached soccer and lacrosse. Later he became an Adjunct Professor at Long Island University, where he taught teachers how to become more effective in their teaching skills. |
In 2001, George and Patricia moved to Southport, NC, where he enjoyed many activities. He obtained his Private Pilot’s License and loved flying the skies over the beautiful Cape Fear area. He was an avid walker and jogger, and completed three marathons in his younger years. George was a volunteer with the Brunswick County Sheriffs Office, serving in the Detention Center and driving the V.O.I.C.E. car.
One of his greatest joys was being with family and friends and having a great meal with a glass of Italian red wine.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia: daughters Maria and Christina (Steve); and his grandchildren Gianna Rose and Josh.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 27 at 12 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lower Cape Fear Life Care.
