Mary Lou Salter, 71, of Calabash passed away on January 8, 2019. She was born in Newport News, VA on February 18, 1947, a daughter of the late Roy Eugene Byrd and Leona Rutledge Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Eugene Byrd, Jr.
Mary Lou had a fabulous smile, loved entertaining and traveling, but there was nothing of greater importance than her family. She was an incredibly vibrant, kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She created many endearing friendships with her authentic warmth and loyalty.
Surviving are her husband of fifty years, Jeffrey H. Salter; sons, Jeffrey Salter, Jr. of Calabash, Christopher Salter(Jennifer) of Marietta, GA and Les Salter (Tara) of Cornelius, NC; daughter, Cary Russell (Conard) of Calabash; sister, Joanne Giles of Cary, NC; grandchildren, William, Hannah, Christopher, Ella, Lucy, Berkley and Saylor; and many nieces and nephews.
To honor Mary Lou’s life a Memorial will be held at 2:00 PM, January 19, at Seaside United Methodist Church, Sunset Beach, N.C.
